Scribble Project

So I posted this awhile ago, and said i was going to do it. Well I've been staring at it, figuring out what to draw to make it just right. And I started it! So here is my progress so far:

I'll scan it instead of taking a picture when it's all done :)

Call me a Renaissance (wo)man!

Holding true to my word, I am doing some more art (or at least posting it). I spent sometime watching tv and painting recently.

In all fairness I didn't do it all at one, mainly worked on the green and blue parts. The rest I did before my move.

The canvas is 4 feet by 2.5 feet. Not a shabby size. The bigger the better... haha at least as far as canvases go.

It's not quite done either. This is an under painting... the paint is applied thin and is just mapping out where I will go back in with detail. But it's a start.

I love how I already have it hanging on the wall... that's where it is going to stay while I work on it and when I'm done. It's taunting me when I walk by... "work on me, work on me, paint me, work on me, spend some time with me, make me pretty"... haha. yes... my paintings talk!

Ancient curses and car chases!

I am quoting one of the blogs i subscribe to (Be Awesome by Kevin Keele) when I say:

"I won't bore you with the details of my long absence. I will only tell you it involved an ancient curse, a mad scientist, and high speed car chases...leaving me no time to draw or paint. Either way, hopefully I can now begin updating regularly again."

Here is the progress on my Adidas doodle:

Miraculously I did most of this in one day... not today. Today I wasn't on my doodling game.

I'm not totally happy with it... there doesn't leave much room for color, which is one of the judging criteria. I may do a second entry if I have time.

ATC/AECO Card #2

Card #2 done... 18 more to go!

I also started the Adidas art contest I blogged about a few weeks ago. So I'll probably post update pictures every so often. I plan on working on it most days since I have a May 15th deadline and I have a large space to fill with doodles.

A Dry Spell...

I honestly haven't done any art work for days, I don't quite feel like myself either. I have so many other things going on that I don't have time to relax with my sharpie marker!

So here is an old picture I took. Hopefully I get some art in tonight... maybe that will make me feel more like myself again.

Swirly Notebook

I doodled my way across another little notebook:

This doodle is pretty dense... more so than the groovy notebook I did.

I recently gave away my groovy notebook, so this one will be taking it's place in my Etsy Store.

I think I might try to paint tonight... or maybe do a comic. We will see!

In the Name of Vanity

This was actually a Clinique ad I found in my Cosmo magazine way back in 2005. And yes, I started it in 2005, and if you notice I didn't finish it until 2008. ::lowers head in shame:: But anywho, I got it done, and that's all that matters... plus i'm finicky with projects and get bored with them easily. Instead of the clinique logos I thought it would turn this into an editorial art piece and write "In the Name of Vanity" on select makeup products.

Warm Fuzzy Feeling...

Here is a painting I did for my design fundamentals class in college. I really love it. We had to create an abstract painting using only warm colors, so anything from a red-violet to a yellow-green, without spilling into blue violet or blue-green.

ost 50! That's pretty cool! I have to say this blog has done exactly what it was supposed to accomplish. I have become more creative and my ideas have been more abundant. Thank you to everyone who subscribes whether on blogspot or google reader!

My heart notebook has been featured in a treasury list on Etsy! This one features all New York artists! http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=51915

Again, it's only up for a few days, so it may be gone by the time you view it. In case you do, here are the other artists/crafters featured with me:

ATC/AECO Card #1

So I mentioned awhile ago I was going to do the artist trading card project. Well I finished my first one. That project was pushed to the back burner with the insanity that is my life lately. So here it is... card 1 of 20.

New Project... who can keep count!

So I have been sick since Saturday.. yes last Saturday. This is day 7 :( Not fun. So not much art going on here...

But I did find another new project/art contest:
http://news.deviantart.com/article/76118/

"

Our friends at adidas are celebrating 60 years of soles and stripes by throwing a house party all year long. They featured musical artists, the Ting Tings, fingerpainting all over the walls and anywhere else they felt like. Check out the film below for footage of the painting party and get inspiration to get messy!

It’s OUR turn with adidas sponsoring our very own fingerpainting contest. Think about how you’d integrate the adidas Originals 3 stripes into your creative expression of originality, celebration, and style.

Paint with your fingers, your feet, your face, your mouse, your tablet, Photoshop, Corel, whatever. Remember, you can fingerpaint on everything and with anything you please. Digital and traditional artists, sculptors, photographers – – all are welcome to get creative and get messy to get YOUR art on the wall in the NYC adidas Originals store."

I think I'm going to give it a shot with some colorful doodles! I have until May 15th... so that's plenty of time!

Busy but nothing to show..

So I've been busy coughing up a lung (and other important organs) but also super busy working on my website, so I haven't had much time to doodle, except for a few seconds I steal before I go to sleep. But I want to share one of my favorite illustrations I did a few years ago:

I worked for the NJIT Freshman Orientation program (aka Miniversity) over the summer of 2005. The theme was "Thrivin' and Survivin' ", and this was the directory (aka Miniversity yearbook) we gave out to the freshman on move in day. I had the honor of designing the cover and laying out the entire book.

I featured this illustration on my website, I have more done than what I shared on Monday, so please check it out! (The art section is not done yet... but the print section is, and I am working on the web section as we speak)

NOT photoshopped or otherwise edited!

So I was looking around for photo to showcase in the art section of my website and i came across one of the VERY few surviving photos from "The Crash of 2008". I took it on a family vacation to Long Beach Island, NJ in 2007. And I took it at night!!!

I kept the shutter open for about 30 seconds (it was 1.5 years ago... so i am not totally sure). The light streak across the sky is from the moon while i set the camera down. I meant to have it already set down when i pressed the shutter button, but things didn't go as planned... and here is my beautiful accident!

To me it looks like someone is drawing in the sky. I love it!

Brand SPANKIN' New!

So I started working on a new website! My last one was debuted last August... but I learned SO much about websites since then! So I'm taking another stab at it!

Feedback is very very much appreciated!

FYI this is for my professional portfolio, so it can't be free and doodle based as I would like. But I got it in the header and footer!

Partial Failure...

So I was watching TV a few days ago and i saw a commercial for Kodak printers and ink. And the ink dripped onto white paper and eventually formed the words for the end of the commercial as the announcer was talking. I thought it was cool, and wanted to try something like that, but with a face... kinda like the 2009 grammy posters. So i blew up one of my pictures really big and set to work!

After the dripping... waiting for it to dry (i'm very impatient):

All done:

I have to say, it does look like me... but the whole dripping effect when i took off the rubber cement like medium that i painted on the paper. (When you rub it off the paper underneath is still white...kinda like getting tan lines from wearing a shirt in the sun)

I got impatient so there are splotches and smears from wet ink. Also the medium is for watercolor paints... and my ink was heavier... so it didn't all come off on the places it was thick. I think I am going to try this again soon... I know it can work... maybe i won't mask the highlights in my hair... and make the hair just ink blotches... stay tuned... this is a project in process!

Sara Beth Card

So I finished another card design, I call it the Sara Beth card. Some of you may recognize the name, well it's my little sister's. She's OBSESSED with polka dots, so I figured it was fit. As per usual you can by them (fairly cheap I think) on my Etsy Store!
