Untapped Column #5

My fifth Untapped Cities column remembers the victims of 9-11.  Please check it out here.

This column is dedicated to Alayne Gentul and all the other victims of the horrific events of September 11th as well as their families who continue to miss them.

It is also dedicated to Gary Lajiness and the other brave members of the FDNY and NYPD who put their lives on the line on September 11th and days and weeks after to help rescue and rebuild the city of New York and the nation.

Hip Shooting #1

I recently read an article about shooting candid photos on the street and decided that I wanted to try shooting "from the hip". I had a lot of bad and random photos my first time trying, it's going to take some time to learn where my lens is pointing exactly without being able to look in the view finder. I was surprised I got a few good shots, in particular I was really happy with how this one turned out!

Untapped Column #4

My Untapped Cities column #4. Don't Forget to Look Up

“…the most important reason for going from one place to another is to see what’s in between, and they took great pleasure in doing just that. Then one day someone discovered that if you walked as fast as possible and looked at nothing but your shoes you would arrive at your destination much more quickly. Soon everyone was doing it. They all rushed down the avenues and hurried along the boulevards seeing nothing of the wonders and beauties of their city as they went.
No one paid any attention to how things looked, and as they moved faster and faster everything grew uglier and dirtier, and as everything grew uglier and dirtier they moved faster and faster, and at last a very strange thing began to happen. Because nobody cared, the city slowly began to disappear. Day by day the buildings grew fainter and fainter, and the streets faded away, until at last it was entirely invisible. There was nothing to see at all.”

Untapped Column #3

My third column was about The Stone Pony in Asbury Park.  I got a really great interview with Joannie the bartender and Greg Schwartz.

Untapped Column #2

I haven't been posting as regularly as I have in the past, sorry.  I spend most of my time working on my Untapped columns.  And I haven't been posting the links to those either, sorry again. I'll have to do a better job at keeping you guys updated.

My second post for Untapped Cities featured my Starbucks cups:

It was a HUGE hit to say the least.  Untapped posted the photo on their tumblr and as of last night, it had 19,840+ likes and reblogs!!  And it peaked at #1 on the art section of tumblr... of course I only managed to get a screen shot when it was at #2, so you'll just have to believe me that it made it to #1.

(Don't forget to click the link to read what I wrote!)
