3. I am hypnotized by this masking tape art! These perfect circles are just amazing to look at, and her video (scroll down a bit) on her website is lovely.

4. Colossal featured glass artist, Ben Young awhile ago and he has some new sculptures that are just breathtaking.

Caffeine Monday #7

Was it as hard for you to get out bed as it was for me?! It was cold out there, and my bed was just so toasty. Sadly I know it will get worse as it's only October. I was happy to know my hot tea was only a few steps away.

This was my entry for Starbuck's white cup contest. We could have submitted one per day, but I was busy at that time, and only managed to finish one. 

I didn't win, womp womp, but I thought the cup that did was very deserving! I hope they hold a contest like this again soon. I'm bringing my "A game" next time!!

Typography Tuesday #9

This was a quick typography sketch I did awhile ago... inspired by my love for Doctor Who.

I wanted to make the words curve from down to up a little bit, but it didn't quite work. Maybe I'll redo this another time, but for now it will stay as a sketch.

Untapped Cities Recap: New Yorker Hotel ArchiDoodle

The New Yorker Hotel was designed in the Art Deco style by the architectural firm Sugarman & Berger. While the hotel was constructed between 1929 and 1930, the height of the Art Deco period, the exterior doesn’t exude the tell-tale, showy Art Deco ornamentation and details.

Etsy Update

I recently added some of the landmark prints and archidoodle prints to my Etsy store. Originally created for Untapped Cities, they are still available from Untapped Cities through their Society6 Shop as well as their StoreEnvy Shop. Sometime in the next week or two I will be adding stationary featuring some of the same doodles and drawings. I also have prints available of my Starbucks cups.

Don't worry if you are looking for the crayon letters and can't find them! Crayon letters and other monograms will be back on November 1st. It was a difficult decision, but ultimately I decided to make them a seasonable item. They will be available the entire month of November and May. If you need them other times of the year then shoot me an Etsy conversation, I MIGHT be able to squeeze your request into my fairly busy schedule.

Article: Painted Typography

I don't normally dedicate an entire blog post to highlight another artist. If I like their work I will include them in my 'Friday Five' but I just couldn't resist today.

Pawel Nolbert's painted typography was featured on Colossal a few weeks ago, and his beautiful creations have stuck with me ever since. Colossal writes, "This interesting blend of paint and typography by Warsaw-based designer Pawel Nolbert was created by photographing actual paint splatters and merging them with digital illustration techniques."

In Development

I have been playing around with my doodles in photoshop recently. I select square portions of the doodle and then mirror them along the horizontal and vertical axi (is that plural for axis?).  What I have come up with is pretty cool, well at least in my opinion!  I think I am going to upload them onto spoonflower.com and see how they look as fabric!

Article: Workspaces of Famous Artists & Writers

I stumbled across this fascinating article this week. It showed, in pictures, the workspaces of 38 famous painters, writers, and sculptors. It was so cool to get a glimpse into their world, and maybe a little into their head. Jane Austen uses the tiniest table, and Picasso has this enormous space, who knew!

I've been so busy with life and art that I forgot to mention a little thing that happened right before I went on vacation to Italy...

The official STARBUCKS Instagram regrammed a photo of one of my doodle Starbucks cups!!!!

It was great to read all the nice things people said about it, and it was hilarious to read what the "haters" had to say. It was an amazing day, and now, (almost) 6,000 Instagram followers later the support is still so heart warming :)
