I'll admit, I haven't been very productive at all this week. But I really want to do some work tonight. Until then I will dig something out of my (dwindling) archives.
This project was for my Design Fundamentals class I took my fall of my senior year of college. Yes, Design Fundamentals sounds like a freshman class, and trust me that's who my constituents were... but it was a Rutgers class and I used it as an elective... plus I needed it to take my painting class. In retrospect, both classes changed my life. I honestly don't know where I'd be without them! Not to be cocky or vain, but I was definitely ahead of the curve in my Design Fundamentals class. But that's not to say I didnt' learn anything. I challenged myself by adding another element to the project.. make it harder on myself. My teacher allowed me to take this liberties after awhile :)
This is the project that definitely changed it all... changed my thoughts on abstract art... it was a platform for my doodles to develop. The goal of the project was to create a black and white design where you can't tell which color is the foreground and which is the background.

Round 2
I just finished the second round of logo design for NJIT's Murray Center Ambassdors program. The above is what I sent to the advisor.

Logo Sketches
I was asked to make a logo for the Murray Center for Women in Technology for my old college, NJIT. Here are some of the sketches.
The adviser liked the top left one, so I have to make a few iterations of that one for next Tuesday. Stay tuned.

::GASP::
I am pulling the sick card... i think this is the first time I used it since I started the blog. New page in my Maine journal tomorrow... I promise.
Until then enjoy this goldfish drawing I did in 2006. I can't find the original, and I thought I lost the scan too, but much to my excitement I found it last week!

Home...
I promise I'll have another page in my Maine journal tomorrow... I would have finished it this morning but it's Monday... and the world (mainly my kitchen) was against me this morning.
Happy Monday!

Depth of Field (DoF)
This photo is from the end of Wells Beach. Al and I parked for an hour and enjoyed Maine's beach.
I really like this photo.

Wedding Bells
As promised, here is a picture of the wedding card I made for Brian and Carrie Bednarski. The wedding was so pretty. I really had a great time! I wish the best to the newlyweds!! Congrats!
I created the "semi-transparent" boarder and letters by doodling with pencil instead! It was something new I tried.

I'm going on a trip...
I'm going on a trip and I'm bringing a notepad and ONLY stuff to cartoon with... no sharpies... no doodle stuff! I am aiming to get a lot done! I am doing the trip "diary" and working on my bad day cartoon.
PS I finished the wedding card, I actually restarted it b/c I didn't like how it was turning out the first time. But I do like how it came out! I'll share it with you next week.
See you all Monday!

Tugging along
I took this photo out the window of my boyfriend Al's apartment last Saturday. The sun was setting on Brooklyn and the East River... I love the colors the sun makes everything when it sets. The tug boat helping the larger ship made the shot complete!

It's all in my head
I have a lot of ideas swirling around and I haven't really acted on them yet. But I'll share them none the less.
1. I am working on a doodle card for a wedding this weekend. The groom is a fan of my doodles, so I am going to personalize a card for them. I would show you what I have so far, but I want them to see it first, so I'll post the completed card next week.
2. A double decker doodle... crazy sounding, I know. But I am going to play around with the concept. It will be a doodle done all in pencil, underneath a doodle done all in sharpie marker... but the sharpie marker won't be filled in, so you can see the entire pencil doodle. This has a 50% chance of working
3. I had a TERRIBLE day yesterday, I think it will translate very well into a comic. I wrote a vague outline last night. I wrote down 15 bullet points... but some need a few panels. I am going to guess it will end up being around 45 panels.
4. My favorite comic/artist Lucy Knisley recently went to Paris and wrote/illustrated a journal about it: http://lucyknisley.com/galleries/Paris%20Journal/images. Since I am taking a road trip to Freeport, Maine with my boyfriend this weekend for a wedding, I thought I'd try to keep an illustrated journal of the trip. This is going to be a challenge, but I think I'm ready to attempt it!!
5. I obviously want to finish my painting... I've been itching to work on it for awhile, but with getting the last doodle ready for the art show last week and working on the wedding card this week, I dont think I'll get to it until next week :(
