Travel Tuesday SPECIAL EDITION!

There is no photo for travel Tuesday today, sorry. But I have something better! A chance to see me draw live at the French Embassy in NYC:

"
In "Parisians vs. New Yorkers" at the French Embassy on Thursday, May 2nd, Untapped Cities invites audience members, Twitter followers and Google Hangout attendees to imagine scenes in NYC and Paris, which will then be live drawn by illustrators David Cessac (Paris), Kit Mills (NYC) and The Downtown Doodler (NYC). Here's how you can get involved:
  • Submit ideas via Twitter using the hashtag #ParisNY
  • Submit street scenes from NYC or Paris on Instagram with the hashtags #ParisNY and #UntappedCities (check out live submissions here)
  • Coming Soon: Submit geo-located stories via our map, powered by OpenPlans.
  • For our non-NYC readers, you can join in on the fun on Google Hangout Thursday, May 2nd (URL of Google Hangout to be updated day of event).
Refreshments provided by Le Palais des Thes.

Untapped Cities artists will be on hand at the "Parisians v. New Yorkers" event on April 20th, selling autographed art and books like, Mapping Manhattan: A Love (and Sometimes Hate) Story in Maps by 75 New YorkersNYC and Paris MacStix stickers for your Macbook, and art from our Society6 shop.
"

I am so excited to draw alongside David and Kit. They are truly talented artists. Watching David draw gives me a preview of France and Paris... a place I hope to visit before the year is out.

If you can't join us in NYC, you can join the Google hangout, please keep an eye out for the link!

If you won a trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Overdue Update!

I haven't been updating this as much as I would have liked to these past few months, especially since November. I bought a house with my fiance and got married. I wish I had a few minutes to do some art in there, but everything was put on the back burner... cleaning, eating, sleeping... literally everything was put on hold.

I did get a few great projects done for the wedding! Thank you to Pinterest for an overwhelming number of ideas, projects and inspiration. I did a whole wine/chalkboard theme for the reception, and even a little bit for the ceremony. I had a great time doing the typography for all the signs. I should have a few on Etsy soon, including a listing for a custom sign like the one below.

I also put together a world landmark collage for a new version of the Untapped Cities site. Below isn't my final version, but one of the final drafts.

My sister received a custom scarf for being my maid of honor. I painted a message on it for her, (process photo below) which she can read when it's laid out, but the message looks like an abstract pattern when worn. (similar to this)

That's about all I managed to do between packing, moving, unpacking, and planning the wedding... all after I get home from a full day of work.

What have you been up to these past few months?
