Art for Water

Art for Water is a non-profit campaign to aid two charities, Charity: Water and Waves for Water, in bringing clean and safe drinking water to the almost 1 billion, who struggle without it.

*I don't know if it was the day I was having or what, but I had a real trouble shooting and reading the light this day. The light the sun cast in Ireland seemed different to me. Maybe it's because the country is at a higher longitude and the sun never gets very high in the sky, or maybe it was an off photo day for me...

My Ireland Adventure Begins

As most of you know I just took a wonderful week long vacation to Ireland. I of course brought along my camera. For the next year (or so) I'll be posting an Ireland picture I took on my trip, kind of like one of those desk rip off calendars! Stay tuned!!

Abandoned Amtrak Train: Who is Jack Cawley?

If you didn't catch my latest column for Untapped Cities:

I have a weird fascination with all things abandoned and run down. The texture of the rust and weathered materials are beautiful. Also seeing the process of nature taking over everything man made is fascinating. Untapped Column: Art of Invention

 

In The “Art of Invention, ” sculptor Daniel A. Henderson explores the viral allure of technology and its unintended consequences. Henderson, an inventor who developed the wireless picturephone and holds 26 U.S. patents, believes that invention like sculpture, is an artistic endeavor. Through his work, Henderson shows us how the permanence of iconic products–from View-Masters to Princess phones–sculpted in stone represents the connection with the natural world and contrasts with the temporality of technology and the materials in which they are constructed.  For the full column click here.
