Groovy Mini Notebook

Yay I finished the Groovy Heart Notebook! This one has a magnetic tab instead of an elastic band to keep it shut (shut picture on top, open picture on bottom). I kinda like it... It's a little different than my usual doodles. If you are too cool to say groovy (apparently I'm not), you can call it the wavy mini notebook.

PS I found a tiny star cardboard box last night... I think I have had it for almost 6 years... it magically randomly appeared on my dresser... so I took a sharpie marker to it... as I do most blank things... like my boyfriend's back (and often occurrence), my art table stool.. and yes, once i doodled on my underwear (bored would be a good word to describe that experience). I am dying to get my hands on a white pair of slip on keds... that would really cool to doodle on!

Found!

I found this doodle sitting there unfinished in the sketch pad I pulled out to use for my blog yesterday. It definitely bridges the gap between what my doodles are now, and the two doodles I published on my second blog 'Evolution of my doodles'.

On a side note, I don't use pencil (like I did above) to plan out my doodles anymore. I did in the beginning, but now I go with the flow, if i make a mistake, well... you usually can't tell because it's all abstract to begin with, but I usually try to hide it.

I also finished my little groovy notebook. I'll be photographing it tonight, and that will be my post tomorrow, and of course it will be up on my Etsy Store tomorrow as well.

On another side note, thank you so much to Alex and my Aunt Peg for buying things from my Etsy Store, I hope you enjoy them!

I am getting anxious... On Sunday there is a reception for the photography contest I entered. The winners will be announced then, eek! So look for an update on Sunday night.

Dedicated to Gordie Powers

A little over a year ago my cousin, Gordie Powers, tragically died. I didn't know what to say to his family at the time, and this year on his anniversary I still didn't know what to say. But today is his 27th birthday, and I finally figured out how to express myself. This blog and artwork is dedicated to his family and his memory. I am not one for words, but I hope the song lyrics in the art are consoling.

He will always be in my heart.

Rest in Peace

M.I.A

Sorry for being a little behind on my doodle a DAY. I am THIS close to finishing another notebook (working titles: Groovy notebook), and another doodle (8.5 x 11) I am going to call Penny Lane (kudos to know if you get the reference).

I also printed out an "exercise" page from this blog I subscribe to, so I am working on that. Here is the blank sheet, go to http://thescribbleproject.blogspot.com for filled in ones! I am going to submit mine once it's done.

If you care for excuses, I also wasn't feeling to hot yesterday and left work early. Also my time has been consumed with finding my very own APARTMENT! Yay! I've wanted my own space since I was little. I remember my sister and I trying to "decorate" our room like an apartment. I will be 10 miles from work as opposed to 70... yea... big difference. (I put 17,000 miles on my car in 4 months... EEK!) So needless to say, in 19 days I should be posting new things more regularly!

Happy Birthday!

I created this birthday doodle awhile back, but i just made a few tweaks to it today. I also made it into a card! You can buy the cards at my online Etsy Store.

Hopefully I can finish the bigger doodle I have been working on this week. I'm itching to finish one of the two I have started... oops 3... I started something new last night. I am infamous with starting but never finishing projects... eek! Something I should work on! But that's what this blog is supposed to be for!

Palisades Sunset

Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 1/400
Aperature: f/10

Normally I won't share this many pictures in one week (I am going to try to keep it to one), this is an art blog, not a photography blog. But I have a good excuse this time, I am entering the above photo into the Jamesburg Art show. This year's theme is photography, so no drawings or paintings. Last year (no theme) I won honorable mention with my doodle I posted on the top of my very first post. Below are the other two I am entering, taken and developed in college. All prints entered in the show are for sale, and if you are interested in the print or original of anything I post, contact me!

Bailout

I am in the middle of two doodles, so again, I am posting something old(er). It is a political cartoon I did around the holidays for a friend's blog. Since you can't turn on the TV without hearing something about the economy, and your boss can't shut their door without you worrying about the safety of your job (I may just be paranoid), I thought this was appropriate to post.

Enjoy!
